It's no secret that Prada has created the costumes for the upcoming movie, The Creat Gatsby. 40 designs from both Prada and the secondary label, Miu Miu, were adapted to create the dresses for the movie. The ever feminist, Miuccia Prada, states the costumes were not about glamour, but rather "it was a real [study of] personality, very internalised."
Prada was chosen to work on the project since many of the dresses used in test shots were from the designer. It worked out well, and costume designer, Catherine Martin, decided to go straight to the source to recreate looks which were not time pieces from the 20s. For this reason, Prada decided to work on the project. They were not recreating dresses from the period, but rather her designs could be reinterpreted with a 20s feel and vibe.
See all of the costumes on May 10 when The Great Gatsby is released.
