Lilly Pulitzer passes away at 81
Her rise to fame started out with an orange juice stand. Her husband owned an orange grove, and as a result, Lilly opened up her own orange juice stand, where she would continually spill the juice on herself. She asked her seamstress to make dresses in colorful prints which would camouflage the stains.
The customers would ask her for her dresses, and soon after... she sold the printed frocks on a pipe behind the juice stand.
"We focus on the best, fun and happy things, and people want that. Being happy never goes out of style." Lilly Pulitzer
