Ottavio Missoni passes away

Ottavio Missoni, the founder of the famous knitwear company with his name, had passed away this morning at his home in Varese, Italy.  Missoni was 92 years old.

The designer started the line with his wife, Rosita, in 1953 with mostly activewear... they then moved on to their iconic sportswear with a full collection in 1958.  Early supporters of the line included Anna Piaggi and Diana Vreeland; wearing Missoni in the 70s gave you status.

The company continues to to grow strong with the younger generations of Missonis paving the way with innovated knits and timeless fashion just like their grandparents.
